Make it stand out

Future Professionals

The current generation, who find themselves in high schools and universities, know they are living through unprecedented global challenges, such as a global pandemic, uncertain economy, major climate changes, and social awakening, to name a few.  They are also aware and accept the challenge that the world is looking to them to be the generation that helps solve these problems.

When we listen in to what they are saying, we hear:

“The biggest challenge for my generation is to find the power to fight for our future and our careers”.

“We recognize an issue in one place is an issue everywhere.”

“Our generation has so many issues to face, so many revolutions to lead.”*

Many of these students are already in leadership roles through associations, fraternities, sororities, charities and other organizations.  They want to be better equipped to work together both individually, and as a team, to gain the skills they need to drive change in their organizations, and be even more prepared for their future leadership roles.

Beacon of Light’s Future Professional Series is specifically designed for the Leadership teams in student organizations.  With a focus on strengths, confidence-building, inclusive behavior and communications, this program  helps develop a high performing leadership team, with a community spirit and a true sense of purpose.  Through a series of games, activities and workshops, this series is highly interactive, fun, and a first step to lifelong personal growth.

Strengthsfinder

This workshop uses the Clifton Strengthsfinder tool and allows you to understand individually your unique strengths and what they mean for you as well as understand and value each other’s strengths as a team.  You will learn to leverage strengths individually and as a team to become even more performing.  You will also learn together and create trust and understanding.

Confidence + How to Be a Super Hero Game

Impostor syndrome exists when you think it‘s only a question of time before someone discovers that you aren’t up to the job.

This workshop will allow each participant to build a confidence ‘bank account’ into which you can make deposits (of successes) and from which you can make withdrawals (of perceived failures).   We also know our overall confidence is made up of our mindset, our inner voice and our behavior and you will learn how to work on one or all of these aspects to improve your confidence .

Communications & Courageous Conversations  + Telephone Game

A workshop designed to help you to improve your communications by focusing on the most important skills for effective communication centered around active listening and empathy.  You will also learn to have the conversations you need to be having.  It provides an insight into what keeps you from having these conversations and a practical structure to help you navigate your difficult conversations along with a selection of tactics to control and regulate your reactions.

Intercultural Awareness + Culture Bingo

This workshop helps you gain understanding of culture, the dimensions of culture, and how they apply to individuals and countries.  By using a proven cultural dimensions tool, you learn techniques to break down cultural barriers, build cultural bridges, and learn how to value and appreciate those different from us.

Problem-solving and decision-making + Building a Marshmallow Tower

This workshop defines problem-solving and decision-making, and demonstrates how both skills are intricately linked together.  It will also allow you to make better decisions through critical thinking and creative problem solving, by using a whole brain approach that fosters creativity and logic.  This will allow you to select the best decision given the specific situation by applying processes to assess issues and problems individually and as a group.

Conscious Inclusion and How to be an upstander + Diversity Scavenger Hunt

We believe in a culture of looking out for one another.  Many of us are asking what we can do to push for equity and be an ally to our friends and colleagues. This workshop will help you understand what causes you to hesitate, freeze, and ultimately not act. Then learn tools that will support you in moving forward and taking a supportive and productive stance, using a 4-step model that enables you to be an Upstander and speak up when others are being bullied or harassed and contribute to a supportive environment where all members are able to do their best work and be their best self.
